Fishing on Branson's Lake Taneycomo
With a narrow, flowing, river-like appearance, the water in Lake Taneycomo comes from the deep bottom of Table Rock Lake, making Taneycomo's water very cold. This cold water created an ideal climate for trout, so the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery was built to help populate the lake with brown and rainbow trout. Numerous state records have been earned in Taneycomo's waters, and some local dining spots feature locally-sourced trout on their menus.
What about that unusual name?-- The City of Branson is located in Taney County, Missouri...Taney-Co-MO. It's that simple!
